Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian quarterback Christopher Vizzina has quickly become one of the most sought-after prospects in the country at his position. Clemson, Notre Dame, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ole Miss are just a handful of the 30-plus schools who have offered him. And he recently jumped all the way to No. 20 overall in the latest On300 rankings.

He has previously said he will use this spring to take visits and sort through the myriad programs pursuing him. The first one to get him on campus will be Ole Miss, which is hosting him this weekend.

Vizzina is one of Ole Miss’ top two quarterback targets in the 2023 cycle, joining Five-Star Plus+ signal-caller and Rebels legacy Arch Manning. Like a number of the top QB prospects in the country, Vizzina and Manning’s recruitments are indirectly tied together because of the common schools recruiting them.

Recent Clemson offer a ‘big deal’ for Christopher Vizzina

However, one school that has been left out the Manning sweeptakes — Clemson — has zeroed in on Vizzina as their No. 1 target in this class. According to On3’s Sam Spiegelman, the Tigers’ recent offer was a big one.

“Sources around the talented Alabama passer had circled the Clemson offer as a big one for Vizzina even before it was made,” he wrote earlier this week. Since landing the offer and visiting campus, there’s a sense that Clemson is in pole position as a mutual fit for the program, quarterback and his family, who have clicked with the entire coaching staff, a source told On3. This feels like Clemson’s guy for the 2023 class.”

The likes of Alabama, Ohio State and Texas continue to express interest in Vizzina and could offer him at some point.

The 6-3, 194-pounder had a strong showing as a junior. He led his team to a 10-2 record, completing 157 of 209 passes for 2,247 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also added 649 rushing yards and 16 scores on the ground.

Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin will look to sell Vizzina on their development of likely first-round pick Matt Corral, as well as Kiffin’s tutelage of Jalen Hurts while he was at Alabama. Vizzina previously visited the Rebels last summer, as well as for a game this fall.
