Lane Kiffin is always good for a couple hilarious posts on X (formerly known as Twitter), even during the offseason.

On Saturday, he turned his attention towards the showdown on the hardwood between the Ole Miss Rebels and Auburn Tigers. As the two SEC squads prepare for a battle on Saturday afternoon, Kiffin made sure to let the world know his thoughts on the game.

The Rebels football leader made sure to remind Tigers fans what happened when Auburn and Ole Miss met on the gridiron, and called the basketball team to action, wanting to “Beat Auburn again” on Saturday.

That’s going to provide some extra juice to a matchup that didn’t even need any. We have two of the best teams in the nation facing off, and they’re both playing some amazing basketball. Now, Kiffin’s comments just added some more fuel to the fire.

Entering Saturday’s clash, the Tigers are 17-4 on the season, coming off of a huge road win over the Vanderbilt Commodores, which helped them end a two-game skid. On the other hand, the Rebels have won their last three games, and enter Saturday with an impressive 18-3 record.

Time will tell if Ole Miss can make Lane Kiffin proud inside the The Sandy and John Black Pavilion at Ole Miss in Oxford, MS against Auburn, but if the Rebels can notch another victory over the Tigers, they’ll have some serious bragging rights.

Ole Miss guard Matthew Murrell says ‘ceiling is limitless’

Ole Miss squeezed out a key win over rival Mississippi State on Tuesday night, winning 86-82 after holding on in the final moments at the Pavilion.

The Rebels threatened to blow the Bulldogs out a couple times, only for the game to tighten up again as it came down to the wire. Ole Miss isn’t quite where it wants to be under first-year coach Chris Beard, but it’s getting there.

“Normally his team is defensive, that’s something we’re still getting at,” star guard Matthew Murrell said after the game on the SEC Network. “It’s just a plus that we’re offensively good at the moment. We’re hoping to get the defense coming along and we’ll be even more better.”

Of course, the win moved Ole Miss to 18-3 on the season, as well as 5-3 in conference play. But the best is yet to come, Murrell added.

“I feel like our ceiling is limitless,” he said. “We hope to be playing our best basketball in the month of February and March and April. We feel like we’re headed that way.”
