Has Lane Kiffin put together Ole Miss’ best-ever top-to-bottom coaching staff?

Lane Kiffin had a few words of encouragement for anyone who would listen on Tuesday. The Ole Miss head coach posted a heartfelt message to social media, along with an announcement that he’d reached three years of sobriety.

“For those of you that may have something holding you back from being the best version of yourself. I encourage you that you can do it! It may seem simple but not easy, but it definitely will be worth it. We only have one shot at this life on earth. Go be the best you can be. #NoLookingBack. 3 years today!!!” Kiffin wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In an interview with OutKick in 2022, Kiffin detailed how he had cut alcohol out of his life. He also began exercising regularly and putting a more in-depth focus on family. Kiffin’s off-the-field decisions have led to on-the-field accomplishments.

In 2023, Kiffin led Ole Miss to the first 11-win season during his tenure. Further, it was the first 11-win season in school history. After defeating Penn State 38-25 in the Peach Bowl, Ole Miss finished the season at No. 9 in the final AP Top 25 rankings.

Kiffin’s new life strategies aren’t seasonal. The 48-year-old head coach hasn’t skipped a beat since the Rebels’ season ended, attacking the transfer portal with an unmatched energy. Kiffin’s aggressive attitude has paid dividends.

Ole Miss boasts the No. 3 incoming transfer class, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings. The group includes four former four-star recruits, along with former five-star prospect Walter Nolen, who was the No. 1 overall player available in the transfer portal when Ole Miss landed him.

Greg McElroy praises Lane Kiffin’s offseason success

Earlier this month, ESPN’s Greg McElroy raved about Ole Miss’ offseason victories.

“They have had a terrific offseason, I’m talking terrific offseason,” McElroy said on his show ‘Always College Football’. “Now, offseason can only go so far, but if you look at the pieces that they’ve added, yes they lost Quinshon Judkins who’s arguably the best running back in the entire country. You can make that case. Now he’s a little banged up early in the year last year, but two years ago, he was as good as anybody at running back in all of college football.

“I have their percentage chance that they make the 12-team playoff at 60 percent. Just a lot of new faces, a lot of questions, a lot of unknowns, but you gotta feel good about the talent that they’ve added and the depth that they’ve added on both sides of the football.”
