Texas A&M Set to Hire Mike Elko

With the college football regular season coming to a close, new head coaches are starting to be fired and hired across the college football landscape.

Former Duke head coach Mike Elko represents one of the first moves of the offseason after being named Texas A&M‘s new head coach on Monday, joining the SEC after previously serving as the Aggies’ defensive coordinator for four seasons prior to his head coaching gig with the Blue Devils.

Elko coaching the Aggies matchups with Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss as members of the SEC. And following a viral video of Elko signing arm-in-arm singing with Texas A&M’s leadership at his introductory press conference, Kiffin didn’t hesitate to poke fun at the moment and potentially ignite the divisional rivalry.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy quote tweeted the clip of Elko’s press conference moment writing, “This school is so fun to laugh at.” Which Kiffin himself quote tweeted with two emojis, a monkey covering its eyes and the cold face emoji.

Texas A&M’s program has been known for its traditions, traditions that many people have differing opinions on. But Kiffin made it clear how feels about them, adding some more intrigue to next year’s matchup between the Aggies and Rebels in 2024 in Elko’s first season at the helm.

Lane Kiffin cleverly trolls Jeff Lebby over reportedly becoming next Mississippi State head coach

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is a man that never passes up the opportunity to troll somebody on the internet. Especially one of his old assistants, his old offensive coordinator with the Rebels, Jeff Lebby. On Saturday night, reports emerged that Lebby was going to become the new head coach of Mississippi State, the rival of Ole Miss. So Kiffin had to let everyone know that Lebby once wore some special socks that said, “We run the sip.”

According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo!, Mississippi State is “targeting” Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby to be their next head coach. Dellenger reports that the deal is not completely done but Lebby is expected to be the guy in Starkville.

“Mississippi State is targeting Oklahoma OC Jeff Lebby as its next coach, sources tell @YahooSports,” Dellenger said. “Deal not done, but discussions are expected to result in a hire. Lebby is a former assistant under offensive minds like Art BrilesGus Malzahn, and Lane Kiffin.”

Lebby will become a head coach for the first time in his career, previously being an offensive coordinator on three different staffs over the past four seasons. He is known for his Veer And Shoot scheme, learned under former Baylor head coach Art Briles — who happens to be Lebby’s father-in-law.
