Joseph Cryer has pressed reset on his recruitment.

Cryer, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 83-rated interior OL out of Natchitoches (La.) Central High School in Northwest Louisiana, backed off his commitment to the Rebels.

Cryer, who pledged out-of-state to Ole Miss in June during his official visit, picked up an offer from the LSU Tigers earlier this week.

The three-star offensive mauler from The Boot made visits to both Baton Rouge and back up to Oxford on Thursday and Friday. Cryer raved about his time around LSU OL coach Brad Davis after securing an offer from the Tigers the week of.

“Been waiting on it, I’m excited,” Cryer told the Bengal Tiger. “Means a lot being an in-state guy. I’ve been to LSU already. I just can’t wait to chop it up with coach Davis.”

“Just told me I’m a in-state guy who is real tough and physical and he needs me to come help fix the interior,” Cryer added. “I love him! He’s a great person and great guy.”

Cryer’s decision to reopen his recruitment comes after returning home from a visit back to Ole Miss, to check in with area recruiter Pete Golding and OL coach John Garrison.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine is trending in the direction of the Tigers by a strong margin of 72.6 percent with multiple expert picks in at this point in the process. Cryer is expected to have a commitment made before the end of the summer.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder is the No. 83 interior offensive lineman and No. 33 overall prospect in Louisiana in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Joseph Cryer scouting journal

Joseph Cryer is already etched as one of the top interior offensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting cycle and the 6-foot-4, 290-pounder continues to ascend with his aggressive blocking style and ability to dominate at the point of attack. Working at both tackle and inside at guard for Many, Cryer is quick off the line and plays with good leverage and power from his lower body. He’s a classic road-grader that projects inside on Saturdays and flashes with his nimble feet as well as continued development at the position. Cryer not only sets the tone with his play style, but coaches rave about his presence in the locker room and in the huddle. That is certainly evident from the in-person evaluation. Stock up for Cryer, who’s a well-versed, energetic country-strong lineman.
