Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix is excited about one of his newest weapons, transfer wide receiver Traeshon Holden. Recently, Nix dove into what makes Holden such an impressive player.

As Nix explained, Holden brings both a talented and a competitive player to the outside for the Ducks.

“Yeah, well Traeshon’s a very competitive guy, very fiery,” Bo Nix said. “You know, he takes ball very seriously. He plays with a lot of passion and you know, just my time with him so far, [I’ve] been impressed with his ability to go out there and compete at a high level and always bring that drive, always bring that will to compete, because at the end of the day, that’s a lot of playing receiver.”

A transfer from Alabama, Holden put up solid numbers for the Crimson Tide during his time there. He snagged 46 catches for 570 yards and seven touchdowns in two partial seasons.

“It’s how bad do I want the ball? He’s a go-getter. He’ll go get the ball,” Nix said of Holden. “He runs really good routes. Really good in one-on-one situations. Strong guy, dependable, he’s played a lot of football himself. So, excited to have him.”

At the end of the day, Bo Nix hopes that Traeshon Holden can help Oregon compete for a championship, which Nix previously said was his goal.

“Well, you know, we play in a very tough conference. We play a lot of good football teams,” Bo Nix said. “It’s not gonna be easy. The road is going to be filled with many challenges, many great teams, but at the end of the day, we feel like, you know, we can be that team to beat as well and we’re going to be confident going into the season. We just got to do what we do best. We have to be a really disciplined football team, play collectively as a group, continue to grow each and every week, build connection on our team and we know we have a chance to get there along with, obviously, great competition.”

Bo Nix on the transfer portal

Both Bo Nix and Traeshon Holden came to Oregon from the transfer portal. So, Nix sees a lot of good in it, even if he’s also noticed a couple of issues.

“Yeah, being a graduate transfer, you know, really set my career up for success, and I was able to choose a place like Oregon and go and be a fit to them and, you know, be that extra piece that they were needing for their puzzle. But I think NIL, you know, for — because of so many people that have done it before me, you know, I really, you know, take pride in what I’ve had the opportunity to do,” Nix said.

“You know, being a quarterback, not only at Auburn, but at Oregon, it’s a valuable thing and it really is nothing to be taken for granted. And you know, it’s a blessing to be a part of. There’s been so many guys before me that didn’t necessarily have the opportunity to win now. I can benefit from it and so can, you know, other collegiate athletes. I think if guys go in and kind of do it responsibly, then it’s a great thing. But at the same time, you got to be careful and all good things can have, you know, a dark side too. So, it’s just how each person handles it and how moving forward college football will handle it.”
