Bo Nix isn’t done yet. After a career-best senior season after transferring to Oregon, he has elected to stay in Eugene and play for the Ducks again next season. The final step between now and then, though, is his last game of the 2022 season against North Carolina in the Holiday Bowl.

Nix discussed the decision to opt into Oregon’s bowl game during his media availability he had a little over a week ago. He said his decision was rooted in football and the ability to play again for both the program as well as his head coach.

“That (decision) was kind of easy for me,” said Nix. “I just really enjoy playing football, enjoy playing for Oregon. I enjoy playing for Coach Lanning. So, anytime I have that opportunity, I’m gonna make the most of it.”

Nix put up career highs across the board this year. He threw for 3,389 yards and 27 touchdowns on a 71.5% completion rate. He put up all those numbers with just six interceptions on the season. As a dynamic rusher, he also ran for 504 yards and 14 touchdowns too.

Nix started off on a bad foot but, since then, has been incredible for the Ducks this season. He has done a ton to change the perception of himself and his career. Now he has one final game to tie a bow on what has been an outstanding year for him out west. This last opportunity against the Tar Heels in San Diego on Wednesday will wrap up 2022 for him before he leads Oregon again in 2023.

Nix breaks down the challenges of UNC’s defense

With Bo Nix’s return to Oregon, there’s a lot of weight lifted off his shoulders ahead of the Holiday Bowl against North Carolina. Prior to his announcement, Nix shared his thoughts on the Tar Heels’ defense and how he’ll attack North Carolina.

“First of all they’re really good in the front seven,” Nix said. “They’re gonna be good run fitters. They’re gonna be good versus the run. And then in the bac kend, like you said, they’ve had a lot of guys moving around. So, until the game, you probably won’t know what kind of guys they are playing with. But they’re gonna be a good, sound defense. A lot of multiple sets, a lot of different coverages and it’s just reacting and playing.”
