Brandon Dorlus Interview Final

The Oregon defense faces its biggest test yet when Colorado comes to Eugene. The Buffaloes possess one of college football’s highest-powered offenses, which will make life tough for the Ducks.

But Oregon EDGE Brandon Dorlus said they have a plan, especially after facing Texas Tech and its Air Raid offense. That experience against a fast-paced team is important when going up against Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes.

However, Dorlus pointed out, Colorado might be even quicker than Texas Tech.

“Texas Tech was known for their tempo, too,” Dorlus told Andy Staples on Andy Staples On3. “But like clockwise, speed-wise, I think [Colorado goes] faster than Texas Tech. And they’re the No. 1 offense on third down right now. So biggest thing is, we’re in shape. We’re good to go. Biggest thing is just locking in.

“We have to lock in. Don’t try to do too much, don’t fall into the trap of Shedeur, the watch and stuff, you know, all that hype stuff. We’re gonna make it nasty and gritty. We’re gonna punch them in the mouth all day and just gonna do our job.”

Colorado hasn’t just used a strong passing attack to get off to a 3-0 start this year, though. The Buffaloes also have a talented running back room led by freshman Dylan Edwards. He proved he can be a threat in both the running and passing games, which is why Dorlus said he’s different than other running backs Oregon has faced so far.

But the Ducks are familiar with CU offensive coordinator Sean Lewis, and after breaking down the film, Dorlus sounded confident Oregon can find a way to contain the Buffaloes.

“This offense is pretty dynamic,” Dorlus said. “They have a lot of weapons they use. The running back, Dylan Edwards, is a fast back. A different back [than] we’re used to seeing. We see more physical backs, downhill, like through the tackle running. But this dude, they’re going get some permanent runs for him, get him going, some screens and stuff.

“And they’re known for their tempo, so this week, all practices has been tempo, get in shape for this fast offense coming into town because we know where the OC came from, who his friends are, so we know what they’re gonna run. We have great game plan. I feel confident in the game plan that we got to stop this offense.”

Colorado and Oregon will kick off Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
