Oregon hosted Arizona on Saturday night, pulling off an upset in convincing fashion. After the game, Ducks head coach Dana Altman spoke about his team’s effort, praising them for it.

In particular, Altman was happy that Oregon’s effort was able to lead to points from things like turnovers and second chance opportunities.

“Like I said, we made some baskets, but we get 15 fast breaks because we get some turnovers, we had some second chance points because we were going to the boards, and then Jermaine [Couisnard] throws one in from half court. Three-quarter court, or whatever it was. And, he goes six for nine from three. So, you know, all those things change how your team looks,” Dana Altman explained.

“But, I thought he and Key [Keeshawn Barthelemy] made some mistakes but he played hard and gave us some energy and you know Waldo did a nice job defensively.

For Dana Alman and the Oregon Ducks, it wasn’t just the effort plays. It was unselfish basketball, passing the ball well to set up other teammates, that sealed the deal.

“So, I thought we had a lot of good performances and Key had five assists. Will [Richardson] had five assists. You know that’s those two guards getting some assists. Really helped us.”

If Dana Altman can get Oregon to keep working hard, the Ducks have a shot to make a run and threaten down the stretch this season. That starts with a road game against Cal on Wednesday.

Jermaine Couisnard says that Arizona was playing dirty

After the game, Oregon’s Jermain Couisnard said that the game against Arizona was chippy. He even went so far as to say the Wildcats were dirty.

“It was just chippy. They was playing dirty. Hitting me on cuts when I wasn’t in the play,” Couisnard said. “Just trying to get them to start talking, and I guess that’s what they got.”
