Oregon’s picked up right where they left off on the recruiting trail following a strong April. The Ducks added to their class Sunday afternoon landing a commitment from Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star cornerback Ify Obidegwu.

Obidegwu’s pledge elevated the Ducks’ 2024 recruiting class to No. 10 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Oregon’s group, which also ranks No. 1 in the Pac-12, rose two spots from No. 12.

The 6-foot-0, 190-pound corner is the No. 92 overall prospect and No. 13 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Maryland.

“Ultimately what stood out to me is that Oregon is a school where I can achieve my dreams on and off the field. Coach Meat and Coach Tosh have built a good defense in Oregon and I know that I can do very great things at Oregon,” Obidegwu told Hayes Fawcett. “Also, Coach Lanning and the rest of the staff has treated me and my family with much love and it is unlike no other. Coach Meat and I have built a great relationship and I have trust in that man 100% that he will get me where I want to be and that is the NFL. Oregon has also been a dream school of mine growing up and it is so surreal that this is all happening.”

Oregon extended Obidegwu an offer last October and he’s visited Eugene twice this year. He took his first trip on Jan. 21 and returned to campus for a spring visit on March 18.

Obidegwu announced his top seven of Alabama, Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, and USC on Feb. 7.

“They have always been a dream school of mine growing up,” Obidegwu told Hayes Fawcett on why he included the Ducks in his seven.

Obidegwu’s commitment to the Ducks makes him the highest-ranked commitment in their 2024 recruiting class up to this point.

He’s also the sixth commitment the Ducks have picked up in the last month.

Four-star safety Aaron Flowers became the Ducks’ first pledge of the spring with his commitment on April 7. Over the next three weeks Oregon would flip three-star defensive lineman Tionne Gray away from Michigan and land additional commitments from three-star quarterback Luke Moga, three-star offensive tackle Trent Ferguson and three-star tight end Jackson Ford.

The rest of the Ducks’ class is comprised of four-star wide receivers Jordan Anderson and Tyseer Denmark, four-star offensive tackle Fox Crader and four-star EDGE Jaxson Jones.
