Montogermy (Ala.) Catholic Prep four-star linebacker T.J. Dudley announced on Monday his decommitment from Oregon. The news comes hours after news broke that former Ducks head coach Mario Cristobal was leaving for Miami.

“I want to first start by thanking Coach Cristobal, Coach [Ken] Wilson, and all the coaches and staff at UO for giving me an opportunity to play at the next level,” Dudley told On3.

“In light of recent events and changes, my family and I believe it’s best if I de-commit from UO at this time. I still will be evaluating Oregon as this process continues. Also, I will now be opening up my recruitment up to all schools. Thank you for all the love!”

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound originally committed to the Ducks back in June. Dudley is the second recruit to back off their pledge to Oregon following the Cristobal news. Four-star quarterback Tanner Bailey decommitted previously on Monday.

The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average, currently ranks Dudley as the nation’s No. 232 overall prospect, the No. 25 linebacker, and the No. 11 recruit in the state of Alabama for 2022.

Oregon is now down to 17 commitments in the 2022 class. The Ducks remain with the No. 10 class on the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings after Dudley’s decommitment.

T.J. Dudley Scouting Summary

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power said the follow on Dudley as a prospect.

“Dudley is a strong, productive player at the high school level who projects as a pure inside linebacker. He’s got considerable striking power and is at his best as a run defender. Dudley is a work in progress as a space defender and lacks some top end speed.”
