Transfer Portal Update - April 23, 2024

Purdue linebacker Clyde Washington has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Washington has spent all four years of his college career with the Boilermakers, entering the portal as a graduate transfer ahead of the 2024 season.

Four of Washington’s 36 game appearances have been starts where he recorded 43 tackles, one pass breakup, and one interception that he returned for 15 yards against Nebraska in 2022. Tallying a career-high 21 tackles last season for the Boilermakers after making three starts.

Washington played high school football at Lenape High School in Medford (NJ) where he was a three-star recruit. Ranked the No. 1,825 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 197 linebacker from the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Washington is one of many Purdue players to enter the transfer portal this offseason, brining the total count to 30 this offseason heading into year two under Ryan Walters. But several of those players were walk-ons and Walters has done a solid job at bringing in talent from the transfer portal as well.

Purdue has brought in 17 players through the transfer portal this offseason, highlighted by two proven specialists and four players from the University of Georgia. And given their gains and losses through the portal, the Boilermakers rank No. 17 on On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings with an Index Score of 16. Which currently ranks third in the Big Ten at this point in the offseason.
