SMU center Branson Hickman entered the NCAA transfer portal. The starting offensive lineman will now explore his options.

Hickman has one year of eligibility remaining and could be a sought after prospect. He had 33 starts under his belt with SMU.

“First, I’d like to thank SMU for a great four years,” Hickman said in a statement. “The relationships I have built with my teammates will last a lifetime, this past season will be one we remember forever. I’d like to thank coach Lashlee, coach Justice, coach Griz and his staff for developing me these past two years.

“I will be entering my name in the transfer portal in April while I work on finishing my degree at SMU.”

SMU does have another center option on the roster in former Miami starting center Jakai Clark. Clark played some guard for the Mustangs this season while redshirting. With his final year of eligibility, Clark figures to slide right in at center with over 40 starts at the college level.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Hickman was a three-star recruit out of Dallas (Texas) Jesuit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 250 overall prospect in the state, the No. 124 interior offensive lineman in the class and the No. 1,910 overall prospect in the class.
