After two seasons as a Buckeye, Omari Abor elected to hit the transfer portal and move on from Ohio State. Now, after some time spent weighing his options, Abor has decided to return to his hometown in the state of Texas.

Abor has announced that he is transferring to SMU, a program that’s just a short drive down the road from his home in Duncanville.

Abor redshirted as a true freshman last fall. Then, this season in Columbus, he saw limited snaps with just two tackles to his name this season.

Abor played high school football at Duncanville (TX) where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 79 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished as the No. 12 DL in the class as well as the No. 15 player from Texas.

As of now, three of the Mustangs six transferring players have come on the defensive line. That makes this a high quality pickup for Rhett Lashlee and his defense considering the caliber of prospect that Abor once was and could still be.
