Findlay (Ohio) 2025 four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery has proven to be one of the more coveted quarterback prospects early on in the 2025 cycle — receiving regular attention from schools like Florida, Georgia and Miami.

Another school on that list is South Carolina.

Montgomery visited Columbia this weekend to see the Gamecocks — at least his fourth time on campus.

Florida head coach Billy Napier, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer all visited Montgomery this past week up in Findlay, Ohio. Montgomery will be on the road once against next weekend to see Georgia before visiting Florida on February 3.

The buzz from On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons: “Billy Napier, Mario Cristobal and Shane Beamer have been at Findlay (Ohio) this week to visit Ryan Montgomery. He will visit South Carolina this weekend, Georgia next weekend and then Florida on Feb. 3. Alabama, Kentucky and Miami are some others still hanging around, but I continue to hear the most about the Gamecocks and Gators in this race. A decision could come as early as February, but that is still being discussed.”

Montgomery recapped a previous visit to South Carolina with On3 in October.

“First and foremost, it was just great to get back down to South Carolina,” Montgomery told On3. “It was actually my first game visit and it was as advertised, the atmosphere and everything. So I really enjoyed my time there. But I was really focused on, obviously, the offense — coach (Dowell) Loggains’ playcalling, Spencer (Rattler) and his playmaking ability, and just what situations coach Loggains was putting him in. And I was very impressed with how Spencer played, how he controlled the game. Like I said, it was just a fun game to go to.”

Montgomery is the nation’s No. 242 overall prospect and No. 19 quarterback in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 9 player in Ohio.
