Former South Carolina running back ZaQuandre White did not get selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. But, it didn’t take him long to latch on with a new team and he chose to sign with the Miami Dolphins, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. In joining the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent, White joins former Oregon star defensive back Verone McKinley III.

Even though he wasn’t drafted, White was one of the best athletes in America coming out of high school and he’s got the highlight tape to prove it. He had a 43-inch vertical in high school and recently drew praise on Twitter from NFL.com’s Lance Zirlein. As a receiver last season for South Carolina, White pulled in 18 catches for 196 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2017 class, he was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 14 running back in America. White averaged 6.6 yards per touch during his time at South Carolina–good enough for the third best mark in school history. He’s got some exciting tools and with the proper development and coaching, could be a really intriguing prospect to watch down the road. Before transferring to South Carolina, White spent his first two seasons of college football with the Florida State Seminoles.

NFL Draft analyst Lance Zirlein gave his thoughts on White

Longtime NFL Draft analyst Lance Zirlein of NFL.com gave his thoughts on ZaQuandre White’s skill set:

“Explosive, athletic runner with good size but a lack of discipline in his running style. White was a high school runner who played linebacker at Florida State but returned to running back at South Carolina in 2021. He’s entertaining to watch with unpredictable, razor-sharp cuts from any spot on the field, but he frequently strays from designed run tracks, which prevents him from finding a rhythm. White has plenty of tread left on the tire and his blend of size and explosiveness will be very appealing for teams looking for a developmental RB3 with run/catch upside to move up the depth chart.”
