Four-Star ATH Mazeo Bennett commits to South Carolina

Four-star athlete Mazeo Bennett of Greenville (SC) High announced his commitment to South Carolina Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot, 186 pounder chose the Gamecocks over Alabama, Georgia, Miami, and Florida State.

Bennett on why he chose South Carolina

“The consistency with them recruiting me has been second to none. They’ve had my heart for a while now, and honestly nowhere else feels like home to me.”

“I’m closest with coach Stepp, but it’s an entire staff effort to get me. They see me being a ball player not only playing outside but putting the ball in my hands to make a play.”

What it means to stay home to Mazeo Bennett

“It means everything to me. Being able to stay at home and be a part of something special in my state is amazing. Hometown hero definitely has a ring to it.”

The in-state athlete joins coach Beamer and the Gamecocks’ top 10 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by Dante Reno, Kam Pringle, and others.

Bennett ranks as the No. 199 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 20 athlete and the No. 3 player in South Carolina.
