Final On3 2024 5-star Rankings 13 Newly Minted 5-stars!! New No. 1 Qb | Inside Scoop

On3 has released its final recruiting ranking for the 2024 class after the completion of the high school football season and all-star competitions. Dillon (S.C.) five-star offensive tackle and South Carolina signee Josiah Thompson is the No. 16 overall prospect in the 2024 On300.

The latest edition of On3’s 2024 rankings features 32 five-star players, up from 21 in the penultimate update in November. Of those 32 prospects, 29 are signed to college programs, with three still yet to make their decisions official.

This final update comes after the end of the high school playoffs and postseason All-American games, where top prospects across the country faced off in a week of practices and ended with nationally televised games.

The 6-foot-6.5, 265-pound Thompson committed to the Gamecocks on April 14, choosing the in-state program over Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, and others.

“What stood out ultimately about South Carolina is the way the coaches want you to become great on and off the field. I love the way they work hard every day. Working hard will help you achieve something great,” Thompson told On3 upon his commitment.

Thompson is one of two five-star commitments for the Gamecocks, joining Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate Academy Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Dylan Stewart.

Josiah Thompson Scouting Summary

On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about him as a prospect:

“Physically-gifted offensive tackle prospect with plus length and reactive movement skills. Measured in at around 6-foot-6, 275 pounds prior to his junior season. Has plus length and a big frame to continue adding weight. A twitchy mover for the position. Flexible athlete who plays low and with good pad level. Gets underneath the pads of opposing defensive linemen. Generates a push as a run blocker. Has some of the better reactive quickness among offensive tackles in the 2024 cycle. Will need to develop his pass set technique, but has the natural tools to be a top pass protector, likely as a left tackle. Has a developmental frame, but may need time in the weight room to add strength and mass. A high-upside prospect who projects as one of the top offensive tackles in the cycle pending further development.”
