Tony Soprano may have never had the making of a varsity athlete according to his Uncle Junior, but Shane Beamer channeled the mafioso in one of the best hype videos you’ll see this year.

South Carolina has become one of, if not the best at revving their fans up through social media, and they have another banger on their hands. The Gamecocks’ social media team took to Twitter to share their own version of The Sopranos opening credits, and it’s glorious for both fans of the show and the program.

Check it out below, in all its glory. It’s bound to be one of the best things you see all day.

“Time to handle business,” tweeted Gamecock Football, accompanying the exquisite hype video.

It doesn’t get better than that. While the fate of Tony Soprano in the legendary HBO show was left ambiguous, Beamer has a chance to end South Carolina’s season on a high note. The Gamecocks are entering 2023 with a ton of hype, and many are expecting them to reach new highs this season.

With the season starting though, Beamer won’t have time to watch any episodes of The Sopranos, which he admitted to missing out on despite starring in the themed video during an appearance on SEC This Morning on Thursday.

“I feel terrible saying this, I’ve never watched an episode of The Sopranos, ever,” Beamer said. “I’ve like, lost all credibility, I think.”

That’s certainly disappointing to hear from the Gamecocks leader, but perhaps the awesome video he starred in will inspire him to check the show out.

Whether Shane Beamer watches The Sopranos or not, South Carolina has an awesome leader at the forefront of their program, and it’s going to be fun to watch the Gamecocks continue to grow in 2023.

Shane Beamer shares key to South Carolina taking the next step

Continuing, South Carolina is a program that earned a fair share of buzz coming into this season because of how they closed the previous one. Even so, Shane Beamer wants the Gamecocks to know that there’s more work to be done in Columbia.

Beamer commented on the necessary improvement that South Carolina needs to undergo while talking with media at the THSCA. He said that there’s no reason to be complacent as there are still very clear ways that the Gamecocks can improve.

“What we’ve talked about since January is there should be no complacency in our program,” Beamer said. “We went from two wins to seven wins to eight wins. So we’ve done some great things. But we’ve got a lot to improve on as well.”

We haven’t done a good enough job running the ballwe haven’t done a good enough job of stopping the run. We’ve got to be better there for us to take the next step,” continued Beamer. “Two years in a row we’ve been last in the SEC in giveaways. No offense in this conference has turned the ball over more than we have the last two seasons. That’s embarrassingly bad. So we’ve got to correct that first of all as one of the many things. There’s a lot of areas to improve. And that’s what we’ve just challenged our coaches and players (to do) since we came back in January.”

There’s certainly work to be done, but the future is bright with South Carolina, and the Gamecocks could be a force for years to come.
