The rift between South Carolina coach Shane Beamer and CBS Sports reporter Dennis Dodd has taken many turns over the last week. It all started after the Duke’s Mayo Bowl — after Beamer took the infamous mayonnaise bath in victory.

However, it looks like the duo is back on good terms. According to both men, the beef stemming from the Mayo Bowl has been squashed.

“I appreciate Dennis Dodd taking the time to call me,” tweeted Beamer. “Had a good conversation with him just now Looking forward to his continuing coverage of South Carolina Gamecocks football.”

Additionally, Dodd elaborated on the situation after Beamer revealed the news to the world.

“I called Shane Beamer on Friday. Glad we were able to catch up today. Great conversation,” stated Dodd. “Looking forward to the new year for coach and South Carolina Gamecocks football. Onward and upward.”

Alls well that ends well. Luckily, the fallout of what was supposed to be a quirky, fun event won’t linger on any more between Shane Beamer and Dennis Dodd.

More on Shane Beamer and Dennis Dodd, Mayo Bowl feud

Originally, the feud began when Dodd was not a fan of the mayonnaise bath. After the event, the writer tweeted a message just as Beamer’s viral moment took over social media.

“My God, we’ve reached the point where hyping a condiment being poured on an adult male passes for programming,” Dodd tweeted. “When we have the discussion about bowl relevance, I’ll start right here.”

Beamer’s response to Dodd was short, sweet, and to the point. He even recalled some previous experiences with Dodd to truly give him a strong response.

“What’s it like being so miserable all the time?” Beamer tweeted. “For a sport you ‘cover’ @dennisdoddcbs… praying for you. I still remember back in July at SEC Media Days when you said the CEILING for our team was 2 wins… Keep bringing that expert ‘analysis.’ Happy New Year #FindSomeJoy”

Afterward, the tweet from Beamer had led to merchandise in the form of a new t-shirt from South Carolina. South Carolina took that hashtag and made it into a t-shirt on Saturday, with “Find Some Joy” printed front and center.

“There’s never been a better time to #FindSomeJoy,” the Gamecocks tweeted, as they revealed the new shirt.

It was a long, winding road, but now Shane Beamer and Dennis Dodd can laugh about the feud that stemmed from a bucket of mayonnaise.
