The South Carolina Gamecocks stunned the No. 8 Clemson Tigers on Saturday afternoon 31-30, bringing the program their first back-to-back wins over top 10 opponents for the first time in school history. It was yet another massive win for South Carolina and their quarterback Spencer Rattler, who did not take long to celebrate the victory. As he got back to the locker room, he decided to light up a victory cigar at his locker.

Check it out.

While he did throw two costly interceptions, Rattler redeemed himself by completing 64.1 percent of his passes for 360 passing yards and throwing two touchdowns. The Gamecocks trailed early in the first quarter and were down 14-0.

Shane Beamer challenged Spencer Rattler at halftime

South Carolina found a way to claw their way back and pull yet another massive victory in back-to-back weeks. Shane Beamer became the only head coach in Gamecock football history to pull off wins against top 10 opponents in back-to-back weeks.

Clemson was leading 23-14 at halftime, thanks to the costly interceptions by Rattler in the first half, one of which was a pick-six on the game’s opening drive. Heading into the locker room at halftime, Shane Beamer knew the team was going to need Rattler to carry them.

“If we’re gonna win this game, we’re gonna win this game because of him,” Beamer said. “He played his butt off last week and he can again this week. Two critical turnovers that just gifted them points. The first quarter was ugly, but we kept battling. We’re in the game, and we’re gonna win the game because of him in the second half.”

Rattler has delivered in the big moments the past few weeks and he’s been a massive reason why the Gamecocks are on a roll. South Carolina is playing like one of the hottest teams in college football and they will be a difficult matchup for any team to face in their bowl game.
