Three-star offensive tackle Mike Williams of Baltimore (MD) Charles Herbert Flowers announced his commitment to South Carolina Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-7, 310 pounder chose the Gamecocks over Tennessee, Michigan State, and others.

Williams on why he chose South Carolina

“What stood out about South Carolina was their fan base and coaching staff,” Williams said. “ Their fan base is like no other. Even if you aren’t a Gamecock they treat you like family and I loved it. Being able to meet people who are inspired by your game and are huge fans of you is truly amazing. Now the coaching staff aren’t like car sells-men they aren’t trying to sell South Carolina, they’re trying to make sure that you get the best opportunity to better yourself as a man and I respect that!”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for Williams

“My relationship with the coaching staff is great,” Williams said. “Like I said, me and coach Teasley have a lot of conversations, not just about football but life.  His plan is for me to play tackle and guard.”

The Maryland offensive lineman joins coach Beamer and the Gamecocks’ No. 6 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by Josiah Thompson, Kam Pringle, and others.

Williams ranks as the No. 1252 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 91 offensive tackle and the No. 35 player in the state of Maryland.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $17.2K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
