The Ole Miss Rebels and South Carolina Gamecocks game was so good, it needed another period of action. And just when we thought the game was headed to a second overtime period, South Carolina snatched away the victory with this half-court buzzer-beater.

With two seconds left on the clock, Gamecock forward Jermaine Couisnard in-bounded the ball from underneath their basket. He was able to find guard James Reese V at mid-court, who catches it and launches the ball almost immediately. The bank was open late on Tuesday, as the ball bounced off the backboard and into the basket, giving South Carolina the 77-74 victory.

The Gamecock guard didn’t have his best game, just six points on 3-for-10 shooting before that. But he saved his best for quite literally last. That had to be an amazing moment for him, and it came right at the perfect time for South Carolina.

South Carolina improved to 15-10 on the season with a 6-7 conference record. Ole Miss dropped to 12-14, with a 3-10 conference record.

South Carolina’s season stays afloat

A win keeps South Carolina in the hunt to finish middle of the pack in the SEC with room to move up. The Gamecocks didn’t play the perfect game but found a way to win and do it in a dramatic fashion.

Ole Miss is considered a Quad II win as of Wednesday morning. As of right now, with games to play Wednesday, the Gamecocks are tied for seventh in the league with Florida. LSU and Alabama both play Wednesday and are 6-6.

A win over Ole Miss might not be a standout feather in a resume cap, but it keeps the Gamecocks moving in the right direction and angling for a winning record.
