The TCU Horned Frogs have found their new running backs coach. On3’s Matt Zenitz reports that sources close to the program expect TCU to hire Memphis Tigers running back coach Anthony Jones.

The Horned Frogs had been in the market for a running backs coach after Ra’Shaad Samples left to join the Super Bowl champs, the Los Angeles Rams as their new running backs coach, sources tell On3. Samples had followed Sonny Dykes to TCU after serving as Dykes’ running backs coach and assistant head coach at SMU, where he helped the Mustangs rank first in the AAC in total offense last season.

Zenitz broke the news with this post.

“ TCU is expected to hire Memphis’ Anthony Jones as its new running backs coach, sources tell On3sports. Under Jones, Memphis has had four running backs drafted in the last three NFL drafts, including two third-round picks,” wrote Zenitz via Twitter.

TCU would definitely like for Jones to repeat his success at the running back position and help them draw in regional talent. It has been quite some time since the Horned Frogs have brought it and developed high-caliber running back talent. But under Jones, look for that to turn around quickly.

Former TCU star Jeff Gladney found not guilty

Former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney was found not guilty of a felony assault charge on Thursday. The former first round selection out of TCU is currently a free agent. He missed the 2021 NFL season after being released August 3rd, 2021 by the Vikings. His release was a result of the indictment for the aforementioned incident.

“A Dallas jury found former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney not guilty on a felony assault charge Thursday,” wrote ESPN. “The verdict was unanimous, according to online court records.”

After the jury came to their decision, Gladney’s agents released a statement.

“This has been a challenging time for Jeff mentally, spiritually and athletically,” Gladney’s agents, Brian E. Overstreet and Rodney Williams, said in a statement, according to the Pro Football Networkper ESPN. “So, we applaud Jeff for having the courage to stand and fight for his freedom versus these false allegations.”

The former TCU star was arrested in April 2021 in Dallas after allegedly assaulting a former girlfriend. At the time, Gladney was charged with domestic violence by impeding breathing after allegedly “intentionally, knowingly and recklessly” causing bodily injury and applying pressure to the woman’s neck and throat, according to ESPN.
