Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill four-star tight end Ethan Davis announced Friday on Twitter that he is going to pursue and play basketball in addition to football at Tennessee.

Before becoming a top football recruit, Davis was making significant noise as a basketball recruit. Power Six programs including Georgia and Ole Miss showed interest in him on the hardwood.

It appears he has made enough of an impression with Rick Barnes too to help him earn a role on the Vols’ basketball team too.

Davis is the No. 82 overall player in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is the fourth-highest rated tight end in the country after Phoenix Pinnacle four-star tight end Duce Robinson, Minneapolis Robbinsdale Cooper four-star tight end Jaxon Howard and Santa Rosa Beach (Fla.) South Walton four-star tight end and Georgia commit Pearce Spurlin III.

Davis currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5,600. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

He committed to Tennessee about two months ago and highlighted his relationship with head coach Josh Heupel tight ends coach Alex Golesh as a huge reason for his commitment.

“Me, coach Golesh and coach Heupel have been talking a lot recently,” Ethan Davis said. “Coach Golesh has been down to the school three times in the last two weeks. A couple of weeks before that he was down here again. He’s been really on me and recruiting me and it’s not just been at the end. He’s been on me from the jump. They’ve been calling me every week and building that relationship. I feel like I’ll be able to thrive at Tennessee.”
