Frisco (Texas) Reedy four-star interior offensive lineman Max Anderson has announced his commitment to Tennessee. He chose the Volunteers over Georgia, Michigan and Oklahoma among others.

Anderson is the No. 197 overall prospect and No. 11 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 37 player in Texas.

On3 rates Anderson higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 185 overall prospect and No. 9 interior offensive lineman in the country.

“Just the people here and the culture,” Anderson told On3 about his decision. “I really love the coaches. I feel at home and it’s a good decision for me and my family.”

Tennessee extended an offer to Anderson last April. He’s visited Knoxville several times since that offer including an official visit on June 9.

Max Anderson currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $69K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Vols now have a top-10 recruiting class

With Anderson’s pledge the Volunteers now have 14 commitments in their 2024 recruiting class. The group ranks as the No. 10 class in the country and No. 4 in the SEC.

Anderson is also the fourth third offensive lineman to commit to the Vols this cycle. He joins Fort Collins (Colo.) Fossil Ridge three-star offensive tackle Gage Ginther and Murfreesboro (Tenn.) MTCS three-star offensive tackle Jesse Perry.

Of the 14 pledges in the group, nine are ranked as four-star prospects. Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day School quarterback Jake Merklinger is the highest-ranked player in the class at No. 76.

The other four-star prospects aside from Anderson and Merklinger are IMG Academy (Fla.) tight end Jonathan Echols, Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy cornerback Kaleb Beasley, Salem (Va.) running back Peyton Lewis, Chattanooga (Tenn.) Bradley Central athlete Boo Carter, Springfield (Mo.) Glendale EDGE Kellen Lindstrom, Cleveland (Tenn.) Bradley Central safety Marcus Goree and Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy linebacker Jordan Burns.

With this group, Josh Heupel and his staff are slightly ahead of where they finished the 2023 recruiting cycle. That class finished No. 12 in the nation and No. 5 in the SEC.
