“Being a kid from a small town in East Tennessee, it was an honor to wear Orange and White and play at Neyland Stadium in front of all the amazing fans we have here in Knoxville,” Mays wrote.

“I would like to thank god for the blessings he has given me and my family for the support, love, and guidance they have given me,” he wrote.

“Thank you to Coach Pruitt and his staff for giving me the opportunity to come to Tennessee. To Coach Heupel, Coach Ellarbee, and the rest of the Tennessee football staff, thank you for your hard work, knowledge, and sense of family you brought to me and our team. To the training staff, especially Jeronimo Boche, Dario Gonzalez, Dr. Klenck, and Dr. Rappe thanks for your countless hours of hard work to ensure my body was healthy every time I stepped out onto the field,” he wrote.

“To my brother Cooper, who would’ve thought our dreams would come true. It has been the biggest honor and blessing to be able to share this experience with you. I’ll forever cherish the memories we made together,” the former five-star offensive lineman said.

“To all of my teammates, my brothers, thank you for your unwavering commitment to change the culture at Tennessee and leave it better than we found it. The memories we made and the impact you have had on my life simply cannot be put into words,” the Knoxville, Tennessee native said.

“To my biggest fan, my little brother Camp, thank you for letting me be your role model. I’m proud of you. Love you Camper,” Mays said.

“I am excited to continue to pursue my dream of playing in the NFL and will be entering the 2022 NFL Draft,” he wrote.

Tennessee will always be a part of me and I promise to make you all proud. Cade Mays #68.”

Accolades for his Tennessee Career

An important piece of the Volunteers offensive line, Mays had to deal with a number of injuries during the 2021 season. The talented offensive lineman earned All-SEC honors for the third time in his career this season. He was named second team All-SEC by the league’s coaches and the Associated Press.

According to PFF, the right tackle was the Vols’ highest-graded offensive lineman for the 2021 season. The gifted tackle allowed just one sack and five pressures in 493 offensive snaps played.

He was a former five-star prospect in the class of 2018, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings.
