The Tennessee basketball team is on a roll of late, and on Saturday the Volunteers claimed another victim: the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Volunteers followed up a 91-71 win over the Tide by adding insult to injury.

After the game the public address system put on Dixieland Delight, an Alabama fan favorite song, with fans chanting their own modified version of the song.

Tennessee was dominant from start to finish, as Alabama dealt with star Mark Sears being hobbled by an injury. Sears still played, and was quite impressive to boot, but he was clearly a bit limited.

Meanwhile, Tennessee star Dalton Knecht continued his red-hot streak.

Knecht scored 25 points, his fourth straight outing with at least 25 points. This comes just days after he became the Tennessee player with the biggest three-game scoring total in more than 25 years.

In the last four games, Knecht has now scored 128 points — an average of 32.0 points per game. That is an absurd figure, and it’ll be extremely tough to beat Tennessee so long as he continues to play at such a high level, as Alabama found out first-hand on Saturday.

The Dixieland Delight celebration by the Volunteers, though, was well earned.

In addition to Knecht, three other players finished with double-figure point totals against the Crimson Tide: Jonas Aidoo (19 points), Jordan Gainey (15) and Santiago Vescovi (10).

Sears put together a tremendous outing considering he was battling injuries, scoring 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting in the game. But he didn’t get a whole lot of help, finishing as the only Alabama player in double-figure scoring.

Alabama did get well-rounded production in the game, with each of the 11 players that played in the game finding their way onto the score sheet.

Turnovers killed the Tide, though. Alabama had 22 turnovers in the game, leading to 23 Tennessee points off turnovers. That was the single biggest factor in the game from a statistical standpoint.

Tennessee also shared the basketball better, dishing out 21 assists on 32 made baskets, while Alabama had just 10 on 25 makes.

In the end, it all resulted in a 91-71 Tennessee win and a celebration with a modified Dixieland Delight.
