Humble (Texas) Atascocita three-star defensive lineman Samu Taumanupepe received an offer from Texas A&M on Saturday. He announced the news over social media.

Taumanupepe is the No. 995 overall prospect and the No. 105 defensive lineman in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 184 player in Texas.

The 6-foot-3, 375 pound prospect is on campus this week in College Station for an unofficial visit to the Aggies. Taumanupepe originally planned to commit on July 31, but delayed his decision.

He has received offers from programs including Texas A&M, Miami, Oregon and Texas. The Aggies and Longhorns have received two unofficial visits each, while the Ducks got one.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Oregon has a commanding lead to land Taumanupepe’s commitment at 98.3%. Texas and Texas A&M’s odds are both at less than 1%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Taumanupepe has an On3 NIL Valuation of $11.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
