There isn’t much on the line for Texas A&M in the finale of a disappointing season. There will be no bowl game or conference title game — though Jimbo Fisher and his squad could derail LSU’s playoff hopes — but Fisher still wants his team to bring the energy and competitive spirit on Saturday.

LSU has been one of the hottest teams in the country since losing to Tennessee in early October and presents a number of challenges for the Aggies. But Fisher thinks his team has the talent to pull of a big win to hopefully get the ball rolling into 2023.

“Want to see fire and juice,” Fisher said. “You’ve got to come out there ready to play. You’ve got to play both lines of scrimmage. They’re really good on the defensive front. We’ve gotta be able to block them. We’ve got to create plays in one-on-one matchups on offense and make them. We gotta be able to have balance. Be smart with the ball and be aggressive.”

Defense has been the consistent calling card for Texas A&M as the offense has sputtered and lacked a cohesive identity, and Fisher knows it will be tested by the Tigers.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is playing at a high level and is a threat with his arm and running the ball. Plus, he’s throwing to arguably the most talented receiver corps in the nation.

Texas A&M has plenty of blue chip defensive talent but haven’t faced a test quite like the one LSU will give on Saturday.

“Defensively, we gotta stop their inside run. Their receivers are very talented, we gotta win those one-on-one battles,” Fisher said. “We gotta pressure the quarterback but he can run. We gotta keep him in the pocket. And special teams, we gotta win the field position more. They’re playing really good football. They’re a good team, they always have been.”
