Purdue edge rusher Nic Scourton commits to transfer to Texas A&M

Purdue Boilermakers edge rusher Nic Scourton has committed to transfer to the Texas A&M Aggies. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news.

Nic Scourton joined the Boilermakers in 2022, playing two seasons with Purdue. During that time, the Boilermakers went through a coaching change and played in the 2022 Big Ten Championship Game.

After getting a good amount of play in 2022, Scourton broke out and began one of the best edge rushers in the Big Ten during the 2023 season. He ended the season with 50 total tackles and 15 tackles for a loss. He also had 10 sacks on the season while breaking up three passes.

Nic Scourton played high school football at Bryan (TX), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 291 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Texas A&M is going through its own changes as Mike Elko has taken over for Jimbo Fisher. With that, the roster is also largely flipping. Moving forward, Nic Scourton looks as though he’ll be a key part of the Texas A&M defense.
