ORLANDO – The rich get even richer. Texas A&M entered Sunday with the top-ranked recruiting class in the 2022 cycle. They extended their gap between them and No. 2 Alabama with the addition of Five-Star Plus+ prospect Harold Perkins.

At the Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando, Harold Perkins committed to the Aggies over LSU and Texas. Harold Perkins becomes commitment No. 28 for the school and the seventh five-star to join Texas A&M’s class.

For Perkins, the direction that Jimbo Fisher has the program heading in is appealing to him.

“I feel like they’re not in the rebuilding process right now,” Perkins told On3. “They are already built. They just need a few more bricks to complete the house.”

Harold Perkins adds to A&M’s amazing class

Texas A&M has been well-represented in Orlando this week. Over half of their class – 15 signees – are on the UAAA roster.

Harold Perkins cited some of these prospects when asked to provide his assessment of the Aggies’ future.

“They’ve got a lot of recruits out here,” Perkins said. “Conner [Weigman], Chris [Marshall], Evan [Stewart], Walter [Nolen]. I feel like they’ve got a great class coming in. I feel like if they get another class like that, they’ll be good.”

At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Harold Perkins is the No. 3 overall player on the On3 Consensus Rankings and the top-ranked linebacker. He’s also designated as a Five-Star Plus recruit, meaning he’s a five-star on all four major recruiting media services.

Nolen and Stewart also hold this title, meaning that Texas A&M has three of the five Five-Star Plus prospects in their class.

It is worth noting is that Harold Perkins still intends on taking multiple visits this month. He previously told On3’s Jeremy Johnson he plans to visit Florida and Miami at some point.

Scouting Report on Perkins

Harkin Perkins can do it all on the football field. He’s capable of making an impact on defense at linebacker, on offense at running back, and in special teams as well.

On3’s scouting report gave high praise to the future Texas A&M Aggie for the versatility he has showcased on defense.

“One of the best run-and-hit linebacker prospects in the last handful of classes,” the report read. “Makes big plays on both sides of the ball. Ability to chase plays from the weak side with ease and fluidity. Improvement in taking on blocks and blowing up offensive linemen is evident on senior video. Has also improved in timing blitzes. Playing snaps at safety and linebacker as a senior. Hands and ball skills are on the high-end.”

His skills on the hardwood, as well as measurables obtained in combine settings, are also highlighted on Perkins’ scouting report.

“Athleticism shows up on the Cy Park basketball team as well with many plays well above the rim,” the report continued. “Athleticism carries over to the combine setting. Posted a 4.49-second 40-yard dash on grass prior to junior season at 200 pounds. Carrying nearly 210 pounds as a senior while retaining athleticism. Has the frame to carry over 230 pounds.”
