Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher, offensive line coach Josh Henson and offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey visited a priority recruiting target as the Contact Period opened up for the first time in nearly two years.

The Aggies staff visited Humble (Texas) Atascocita four-star offensive lineman Kam Dewberry. Texas A&M is battling Texas for Dewberry’s commitment. Head coaches are able to go in-home with recruits one time during the Contact Period, and Fisher used his visit early in hopes of locking up Dewberry.

Kam Dewberry is the No. 63 recruit in the 2022 On3 Consensus Rankings, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Dewberry, the No. 6 interior offensive lineman in the country, took his official visit to College Station back in June and has unofficially visited Texas A&M numerous times since.

Dewberry has already used his five official visits after taking trips to LSU, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Look for Dewberry to announce his commitment on December 15.

Kam Dewberry Scouting Summary

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote the following on Dewberry as a prospect:

One of the best offensive line frames in the 2022 cycle. Projects to guard at the next level, but has arm length befitting of an offensive tackle with a near 7-foot wingspan. Broad-shouldered and barrel-chested with big hands. At his best as a drive blocker in the run game. Plays with consistent toughness and physicality. Strong as a down blocker and drives his feet. Displays the ability to locate and connect with authority when pulling. Flat-footed in a three-point stance with good ankle flexion. Constantly looks to hit and punish defenders. An average athlete for the position. Has a tendency to bend at the waist, lunge and cross his feet in pass protection at offensive tackle.

Texas A&M chasing No. 1 recruiting class

Texas A&M currently has the nation’s No. 3 class according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. SEC foes Georgia and Alabama are the two schools currently ranked ahead of the Aggies.

A commitment from Dewberry would certainly help Texas A&M’s chance at landing the No. 1 recruiting class as the Aggies are also in a good position to land five-star EDGE Shemar Stewart, five-star linebacker Harold Perkins, and five-star cornerback Denver Harris. The addition of any of those prospects would tighten the race for the No. 1 recruiting class in 2022 a great deal.
