It’s been a good day on the recruiting trail for Texas A&M. Hours after landing Denton (Texas) Ryan five-star linebacker Anthony Hill, the Aggies earned a commitment from Shiner (Texas) four-star safety Dalton Brooks. His decision elevated Texas A&M’s 2023 recruiting class to No. 17 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 7 in the SEC.

The Aggies have moved up 18 spots from No. 35 since the start of the day. Hill’s announcement moved the class to No. 22 before Brooks’ commitment bumped it up five more sports.

“It’s just like down here [in Shiner],” Brooks told AggieScoop’s Tim Verghese about Texas A&M’s culture. “So, being able to go out there, get it going every day. Knowing it’s going to be hot, knowing you got to come back and do it. They’re going to do that everyday, you can see it.”

Texas A&M’s 2023 class now includes eight recruits and is comprised of one five-star, six four-stars and one three-star. Five of the Aggies’ pledges are top-100 commits. They are Hill, Brooks, La Grange (Texas) four-star cornerback Bravion Rogers, Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep four-star interior offensive lineman Chase Bisontis and Dallas South Oak Cliff four-star cornerback Jayvon Thomas.

Hill, Brooks, Bisontis and Spring Branch (Texas) Smithson Valley four-star interior offensive lineman Colton Thomasson announced their commitments to Texas A&M this month. Even though Brooks is the only safety in the Aggies’ class, he, Rogers and Thomas make up a strong group in the defensive backfield. Other 2023 Texas A&M commits are Katy (Texas) Paetow four-star linebacker Daymion Sanford and Southlake (Texas) Carroll Senior three-star punter Tyler White.

Other points to know about Texas A&M’s 2023 class

Even though the Aggies’ 2023 class is still outside the top 15, their average rating per commit of 91.64 is fourth in the nation. The only teams ahead of them are Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame, the top three programs in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

Texas A&M doesn’t look to be slowing down on the recruiting trail. Attendees of the program’s BBQ/Pool Party event this weekend include Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic five-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr., the No. 21 overall prospect in the 2023 On300. Additionally, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Aggies the highest chance to land Katy (Texas) Paetow five-star defensive lineman David Hicks at 60.2%.
