Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Turner was ejected from Saturday’s game against Ole Miss for throwing a punch at a Rebel player early in the second half.

Rebels offensive lineman Micah Pettus stayed on his block against Turner for longer than appreciated before he retaliated with a punch to the leg and another to the upper body before the camera cut away and the two players were separated.

Turner was subsequently penalized and ejected from the ball game for the blatant personal foul. You can view the incident right here:

Not a great look for the Texas A&M defender. However, Sunday morning, Turner went to Twitter to apologize for what he calls an “unacceptable” act. Here was his statement:

“I want to apologize for embarrassing myself, my family, and my team! My actions were unacceptable and stupid. I have to understand what teams are gonna try to do to get me out my game I let my emotions get the best of me won’t happen again period… #GigEm

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin also commented on the ordeal the morning after. He simply tweeted “great discipline” and tagged Micah Pettus’ account after the Rebel offensive lineman didn’t bite on fighting back at Turner despite the attack.

Turner has been Texas A&M’s most disruptive defender against the Rebels and even has a blocked field goal to his credit on the afternoon — which was returned for a touchdown in the first half. Before his ejection, he totaled two tackles on the day but was a disruptive presence to Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart throughout the afternoon.

On the season, Shemar Turner has totaled 25 tackles including five sacks and two forced fumbles.

Jimbo Fisher on Le’Veon Moss injury

The Aggies came up short on the road Saturday against Ole Miss. The Rebels took the contest 38-35, dropping A&M to 5-4 this season. On top of that, the Aggies suffered a handful of injuries, most notably one to running back Le’Veon Moss.

After the game, in the postgame press conference, Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher discussed the injury Moss suffered, revealing that, while the lower body injury looked bad, it would not require surgery to repair.

“I think it was just a twisted lower body injury,” said Fisher. “They didn’t think it was anything surgical, but something that could be a week. I don’t know; it could be a couple of days, (or it) could be a week. We’ll have to wait and see. I don’t think it’s surgical, but it was a legit thing. And that’s a shame; he was running really well.”
