Texas A&M has been on a recruiting tear the last few days, and Walter Nolen wants to keep it rolling.

The five-star defensive lineman started the movement Saturday afternoon when he committed to the Aggies before their game against Auburn. Now he wants fellow five-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart to join him next year in College Station, Texas.

Nolen tweeted Monday night that he “will get (Stewart) to be an Aggie!”

Texas A&M’s last few days have been some of the best on the trail this year

Saturday was a day that will in Aggies recruiting lore for years. Walter Nolen surprisingly committed on Instagram Live before the game, and then Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall four-star wideout and top-100 recruit Chris Marshall followed suit less than 30 minutes later.

To top it all off, Texas A&M defeated the Aggies with many other top uncommitted prospects in attendance.

It was a no-brainer that On3’s Jeremy Crabtree named Texas A&M as a recruiting winner from the weekend.

“We knew coming into Saturday it was going to be a five-star weekend in College Station, with an elite crop of prospects coming to town for the game of the week against Auburn,” Crabtree said. “And nobody could have written a more perfect recruiting script for the Aggies.”

The Aggies some more great news Monday when four-star Swedish tight end Theodor Melin Öhrström reclassified to the 2022 class.

Walter Nolen and Shemar Stewart would make an elite duo at the next level

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – rates Walter Nolen as the No. 2 prospect in the nation and Shemar Stewart as the No. 6 recruit. Along with Oklahoma commit Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, they make up the top three defensive lineman in the nation.

Having both go to Texas A&M would further improve one of the top positions in college football and demonstrate how excellent Aggies defensive line coach Elijah Robinson is as a recruiter.

But the impact would go beyond just the defensive line. Texas A&M jumped in the from No. 9 to No. 3 following Walter Nolen’s commitment. Shemar Stewart could help push them from No. 3 to No. 1.

It would be the first time Texas A&M has ever had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, and On3 National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton writes that it could happen if the cards fall the right way.

“The Aggies have had some success under Fisher in South Florida,” Hamilton said. “But winning out for Stewart would be another level recruitment. The 6-foot-5, 265-pounder has been trending to Texas A&M over Georgia and Miami in recent weeks. Ohio State has also been working hard on this one.”
