Texas running back Bijan Robinson is one of the most explosive players in college football. Few running backs can match his freakish combination of size, speed and power in the open field. He didn’t get the nickname “Little Ricky” by accident. The nickname references to former Texas Longhorn legend Ricky Williams.

Robinson was one of the most decorated running backs ever to commit with the Longhorns, when he signed with Texas in the 2020 recruiting class. He was rated as the top running-back prospect in America and the 15th best overall prospect in the country, according to 247sports.com. He eviscerated defenses for over 7,000 total rushing yards in high school at Salpointe Catholic (Tuscon, Arizona). The 6-foot, 215-pounder became the state of Arizona’s all-time rushing yardage leader (7,036) and all-time touchdown leader (114).

There was a lot of hype surrounding him before he even touched a football his freshman year at Texas, but he didn’t disappoint.

In just five games last season, Robinson erupted for 703 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The Arizona native averaged over eight yards per carry. As a receiver, Robinson hauled in 15 catches for 196 yards and two touchdowns.

His best performance came in the Alamo Bowl against the Colorado Buffaloes. He gashed them for 183 rushing yards and one touchdown on just 10 rushing attempts, averaging 13.1 yards per carry.

The hype surrounding Robinson has only continued to build in the off-season, as his head coach Steve Sarkisian recently compared him to Reggie Bush, one of the top college running backs of all time.

The Longhorns are expecting big things yet again this fall from their superstar running back. He recently took the time to speak with reporters about what players in the NFL he likes to model his game after. Below is the quote from the interview.

Texas RB Bijan Robinson

On the Texas Longhorn running back tradition: “First off, it’s a blessing that we have running backs like that, that came before us. In this generation and how they set the example for not just me, but for every running back in the country. But I try not to focus on that kind of stuff. I know there’s a great legacy here but I know that God has a plan — for what I have and for everybody on this team. I just want to be the best teammate and player that I can be for this team, for this university, for my family, for God. So I try not to think about that stuff, but it’s awesome to be in a conversation like that.”

Bijan Robinson and the Texas Longhorns kick off their season against Louisiana-Lafayette. The game will on Sept. 4 and will be televised by Fox at 4:30 PM ET.
