Casey Thompson has been a true revelation for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas coaching staff.

FOX college football reporter Bruce Feldman pointed out a staggering stat that should have Longhorns’ fans thrilled.

“Since Casey Thompson stepped in after halftime of the bowl game and in his two starts (UT’s up 42-14 at halftime), Texas has scored a combined 138 points in those two full games with him taking over,” Feldman tweeted.

Thompson is currently 12-of-16 for 184 passing yards and two touchdowns in today’s drubbing of Texas Tech.

It’s no surprise Sarkisian was so high on Thompson heading into Saturday’s matchup.

“I think he’s been very consistent, which I appreciate about him,” he said of Thompson. “He’s come to work, he’s put in the work in the meeting room, he’s put in the work on the field and he’s asked good questions. I think he trusts his process and his preparation, which is a great space to be in. I think you can find that space when you’re a fourth year player. You’ve been through it, you know what it looks like, you know how to get yourself prepared to play and the results are the results. When he’s played, the ball has moved down the field and we’ve scored points, so I think he realizes this isn’t the week to change up his routine because it’s worked pretty good for him previously.”

While there has been speculation about Hudson Card sharing some reps under center, Thompson has taken all of the snaps against Texas Tech so far.

Casey Thompson is clearly trying to solidify his role as the full- time Longhorns’ signal caller.
