Humble (Texas) Summer Creek four-star EDGE Chad Woodfork is getting close to a commitment decision, and one team is trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Woodfork is fresh off a visit to USC, but it’s the in-state Texas Longhorns who currently hold the momentum. That comes after a pick from On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman on Monday for Texas to land the Houston-area star.

He visited the Longhorns last month for their junior day festivities, and the environment and culture in Austin continue to make a major impression on him.

“Sark stopped by the school this past week to see me,” he told Spiegelman on Monday. “Being able to have a relationship with the head coach is definitely what you want when you’re choosing a college. Texas is a great place, the environment is great and it’s a great culture. They’re consistent and they stay on top of it, and there’s a lot of good things about the place. This past season, they showed it.”

And an announcement could be on the horizon.

“I think a decision could be soon,” Woodfork told Spiegelman. “I want to see a few more places, and then after that … I’ve seen and heard a lot from all of these schools and what they have. I have to make sure I’m 100 percent, but I’m 95 percent (sure) I know where I’m going.”

Woodfork would give the Longhorns another dynamic pass-rusher

After signing Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Colin Simmons, along with On3 top-100 prospect Zina Umeozulu, in the 2024 class, Texas is looking to add even more firepower along the defensive line.

Woodfork had 33 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, seven quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries this past season as a junior.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder is the No. 56 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 6 EDGE and the No. 11 prospect in the Lone Star State.

The Longhorns already have five commitments early in the 2025 cycle: Saraland (Ala.) four-star quarterback K.J. Lacey, Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove four-star athlete Lance Jackson, Calhoun (Ga.) four-star tight end Emaree Winston, Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie defensive lineman Brandon Brown and Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek EDGE Anthony Williams.
