Transfer Portal News Of The Day December 18 - Malachi Nelson Plans To Transfer, Juice Wells To Ole Miss

Steve Sarkisian has dipped into the NCAA transfer portal and brought an Austin native home. Former Clemson defensive back Andrew Mukuba has committed to Texas, returning to the Lone Star State for his senior season.

According to the On3 transfer portal Industry Rankings, Mukuba is the No. 14 overall prospect to enter this cycle. At the time of his commitment, no defensive back is ranked higher. A huge win for Texas and Mukuba is somebody who could immediately slot in as a starter.

In 35 games for the Tigers over the last three seasons, Mukuba recorded 31 starts. Throughout his career, he has posted 142 tackles, 15 pass deflections, a sack, and an interception. Position versatility is a major plus too, having the capability to play safety and nickel.

Mukuba played high school football at Austin (TX) LBJ, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 123 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
