Texas cornerback Terrance Brooks is planning to enter the transfer portal, he announced on social media on Tuesday.

Brooks was ranked as a five-star recruit and the No. 24 overall player in the country in the class of 2022, per the On3 rankings.

“I want to thank God, my family, and the Longhorn nation for everything. At this time I will be entering into the transfer portal,” Terrance Brooks posted on Twitter.

Brooks was immediately a key contributor for the Longhorns after arriving in the class of 2022. He played in nine games and made three starts as a true freshman. The Little Elm, Texas native finished with nine tackles and three pass breakups that season.

As a sophomore in 2023, Terrance Brooks had a breakout year. He earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors after playing in 14 games and making 13 starts.

Brooks recorded 20 tackles, six pass breakups and three interceptions last season. The three interceptions tied for the team lead.

Brooks was expected to be one of the top cornerbacks on the Texas roster next season but now he is off to the transfer portal. He is sure to receive plenty of interest as he looks for his next school.

Texas is coming off of a 12-2 season in 2023. The Longhorns reached the College Football Playoff before falling to Washington in a semifinal game.

Texas running back Savion Red intends to enter NCAA transfer portal

Texas cornerback Terrance Brooks announced that he would be entering the transfer portal less than 24 hours after Longhorns running back Savion Red shared that he was planning to enter the portal.

Red joined the Texas program out of Grand Prairie (TX) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 1,261 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Originally recruited as a wide receiver despite being a high school running back, head coach Steve Sarkisian switched Red to running back. This allowed Texas to use Red in wildcat scenarios, giving him carries in short-yardage situations and the red zone.

Savion Red rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown during the 2023 season. As a true freshman in 2022, when he was still a wide receiver, he caught six passes for 34 yards.

Red was once an SMU commitment during his high school recruitment. Kansas was the only other reported Power Five offer from the running back.
