Everyone is excited for the Texas Longhorns to take the field for their spring game on Saturday, aside from Mother Nature, it seems.

Texas officials confirmed to Thomas Jones of the Austin American-Statesman that the weather is threatening to prevent the Longhorns from a hassle-free event. However, Texas senior associate athletics director John Bianco told Jones “he doesn’t anticipate the game being delayed or rescheduled.”

“A stormy forecast could wash out Texas’ spring football game Saturday, Texas officials confirmed Tuesday,” Jones wrote. “If a weather forecast that includes a 60% chance of rain and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon prevents the Longhorns from kicking off the spring game at 1 p.m., Texas senior associate athletics director John Bianco said he doesn’t anticipate the game being delayed or rescheduled.

“Bianco, the head of the school’s athletic communications department, has worked at Texas for more than three decades and doesn’t recall Texas ever cancelling a spring football game because of weather.”

Nevertheless, Texas can control a bunch during their spring game, but they certainly can’t control the weather. The Longhorns and their massive fanbase will be keeping a keen eye on the weather report leading up to this weekend’s event.

There’s a ton of hype behind the Longhorns for 2024, especially with their move to the SEC. We’ll see if there’s a washout, or if Texas is able to play their spring game without a hitch on Saturday.

Steve Sarkisian on dynamic between Quinn Ewers, Arch Manning: ‘Relationship is very healthy’

Moreover, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian knows he’s spoiled with Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning in the quarterback room.

As Manning develops in Year 2, Ewers will take the starting quarterback mantle once again in 2024. Despite the hype around Manning, a former five-star prospect and No. 1 recruit, the relationship with incumbent starter Ewers is “healthy.”

God forbid something happens to Ewers, Sarkisian has full confidence in Manning and it’s in part to the quarterback’s relationship in the room.

“I don’t take that for granted,” Sarkisian said on College Sports Radio on Sirius XM. “You know, there’s a lot of other schools out there with one guy and what happens if something happens to him? So again, we’re in a good spot.

“Those guys are working hard, doing a great job and I think their rapport together, you know, the way they work together and push each other and make each other better. The relationship they have is very healthy.”

We’ll see if we’re able to get a look at Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning during this weekend’s spring game.
