Playa Del Ray (Calif.) Bishop Alemany safety Larry Turner-Gooden announced his commitment to Texas on national television during the All-American Bowl on NBC, and his decision is already paying dividends.

Turner-Gooden’s On3 NIL Valuation jumped from just under $30,000 to north of $37,000 over the weekend with a bump in followers on both Instagram and Twitter. On those two platforms combined, he has nearly 20,000 followers. He also jumped to No. 84 in the rankings of high school football players in the On3 valuations.

Turner-Gooden is the No. 245 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 22 safety and the No. 20 prospect in the state of California.

About the On3 NIL Valuation

The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

The NIL valuation is comprised of a number of dynamic data points that focus on two primary factors – an athlete’s social media presence and their level of athletic performance.

A base valuation is generated from the number of followers on each social media platform an athlete has (Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok). Each platform is weighted differently based on the number of marketing dollars that brands and advertisers typically spend on each.

With a baseline established through their individual social platforms, an athlete may also receive various boosts or penalties based on the following factors: engagement, relative social media strength, college prestige, individual player rankings, position, gameday performance, prestigious achievements, legacy, media and existing NIL deals.
