With Texas‘ deep lineup, Christian Bishop has become a consistent player for Rodney Terry and the rest of the Longhorns team. They know what they are going to get from the fifth-year senior.

“He’s a guy that we know day in and day out, whether it be in practice or in games, he’s going to bring energy,” Terry said. “He’s going to bring some physicality. He’s going to make some things happen out on the court.”

Bishop has come off the bench in every game but one this season. He averages 6.2 points on 52.0% shooting and 3.6 rebounds in 17.2 minutes of action.

He has 11 points in 27 minutes of action over the first two NCAA Tournament games, where Texas defeated Colgate and Penn State. The Longhorns now have Xavier in the Sweet 16 on Friday night in the Midwest Regional.

“He’s had some really good games for us, where he’s come in and made incredible impacts on both ends of the floor,” Terry said. “He’s been a team guy. Started a lot of games for us last year. Coming off the bench this year, hasn’t complained one time, just been all about winning.”

Christian Bishop is from the Kansas City Metropolitan area having grown up in Lee’s Summit, Mo., and attended Lee’s Summit (Mo.) West for high school.

“Was super excited last night to be back in his hometown, Kansas City, “Coach, we’re back,'” Terry said. “He’s talking about the hotel where he had his prom and all that good stuff. So he’s excited about being back here. He’ll have a lot of family here and a lot of people rooting for him here. But he’s been great to work with the last two years.”

He was the No. 147 overall recruit in the 2018 On3 Industry Ranking coming out of high school. Bishop spent his first three college seasons at Creighton before transferring to Texas. He was a starter his sophomore and junior seasons for the Bluejays. Over his three years in Omaha, he averaged 8.0 points per game on 65.2% shooting.
