Steve Sarkisian had a lot of praise to dish out at Big 12 Media Days to his offensive playmakers.

Specifically, the Texas leader singled out players like wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Isaiah Neyor, along with tight end Jahleel Billingsley when speaking to the ESPN crew.

“I think Xavier kind of speaks for himself. You know, he’s an electric playmaker. Very tough. Well-rounded. High football IQ,” began Sarkisian. “The addition of Isaiah Neyor — another thousand-yard receiver from Wyoming. To get him on board to compliment Xavier. And then Jahleel, with his versatility.

“I think one thing for us that has been critical — Jordan Whittington was leading our team in receiving prior to getting injured in the OU (Oklahoma) game. So, to have him back on board now too, it just gives us a much more balanced approach. A balanced attack. To where, man we love to run the football. We love to be physical, and we love to highlight our playmakers on the perimeter when we get those one-on-one matchups. I think now we have the versatility to do that.”

Evidently, Steve Sarkisian believes Texas has the firepower to be special moving forward. It could be a fun season offensively for the Longhorns with the sheer amount of weapons they’ll have on their squad.

Steve Sarkisian updates the ongoing QB competition between Hudson Card, Quinn Ewers

Steve Sarkisian has a lot of confidence in his quarterback room, as Texas is boasting a talented competition between incumbent starting quarterback Hudson Card and prized Ohio State transfer Quinn Ewers in advance of the 2022 season.

Speaking with the ESPN crew at Big 12 Media Days, Sarkisian updated the college football world on the ongoing quarterback competition between the two talented signal-callers.

“I’ve been fortunate throughout my career to be around some pretty good ones. I’ve come to realize it’s the most important position in sports. So, you try to get as many as you can in that room that can play at a high level, so it’s not just a one time thing. You can sustain it for years and years. We’re in a great situation right now. We’ve got a heck of a room. They work hard and work well together. They love competing with one another. But they love pushing the other guy, and pumping the other guy up when his opportunities come.

“Quinn and Hudson are in a great battle right now. Hudson has got a little bit more experience, and has been in the system for a year. His confidence level is really high, and I’m excited for him. Quinn is a very talented young man. Extremely coachable, great teammate.

“So, I love where we’re at. I think inevitably at some point in the season, we’re going to need both those guys to help us win a championship. But we’ll find out who it’s going to be in Week 1, and we’ll go from there.”

Evidently, Steve Sarkisian believes both Hudson Card and Quinn Ewers are essential to the success of the Longhorns for 2022. However, only one quarterback can be named their starter for the beginning of the season, and it’ll be among the most intriguing storylines over the summer.
