Texas football was well-represented during an NFL preseason game Saturday between the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. Former Longhorns PJ Locke, Caden Sterns and Andrew Beck were on the Broncos side, while linebacker Malik Jefferson donned Cowboys blue.

After the game, which Denver won 17-7, the four former Texas players came together to pose for a photo that was later tweeted from the Longhorns football Twitter account.

Jefferson, who signed with the Cowboys this offseason, finished the game with three tackles. Sterns had four tackles on the Broncos side, while Locke came away with the only interception of the evening. Beck did not record any stats.

Of the four players, Sterns performed the best this past season. After the Broncos selected him in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he started two of the 15 games he played in to finish with 28 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions.

All of the former Texas players will have two more opportunities to make an impact this NFL preseason. The Cowboys are next schedule to play Saturday against the Los Angeles Chargers, while Denver will travel to Buffalo to face the Bills the same day.

Former Texas kicker Justin Tucker signs NFL contract extension

The Baltimore Ravens announced that they have inked a new four-year extension with former Texas Longhorns kicker Justin Tucker. The new deal returns Tucker to the top of the leaderboard for highest-paid kickers in the NFL after the Steelers extended Chris Boswell for $5 million a year last week.

The four-year deal is worth $24 million, according to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson. It reportedly includes a $17.5 million guaranteed with $11.5 million signing bonus.

Tucker still had two years left on his prior deal and this extension keeps him in Baltimore through the 2027 season. He’ll be 38 when his new contract ends.
