A decision is in for one of the nation’s best athletes in the country in the 2025 cycle.

On300 ATH Lance Jackson spent the weekend on The Forty Hours, and by Sunday, he and his family had come to a decision. Jackson, the No. 8-ranked ATH in the On300 for next year’s recruiting cycle, committed to the Texas Longhorns on Sunday.

Jackson, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 104 overall prospect in the nation out of Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove High School in East Texas, has been a top priority for both Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski.

After getting to campus alongside members of his family this weekend, the decision was cemented for Jackson.

“It went really well,” Jackson told On3 of his time on The Forty Acres. “I just loved getting back on campus because I haven’t really been there for a visit only– for a camp and a game — but it was just good getting to spend time with the coaches, especially Coach PK.”

Jackson, who at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds splits snaps on the offensive and defensive side of the balls at tight end and defensive end, is getting recruited by Kwiatowski to play along the defensive front in Austin.

Texas has made the On300 ATH from East Texas a priority. Sarkisian is expected to visit Jackson at Pleasant Grove High School later this week.

The priority treatment put the Longhorns over the top for Jackson, who was also giving strong consideration to Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and others.

“They went pretty good,” Jackson said of his conversations with Sark and the Texas coaching staff. “They were just saying how I’m a priority for them in that 2025 class … I just love the type of person that Coach PK is. He’s a good dude.”

Jackson is tabbed as the No. 104 player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also ranked as the No. 8 ATH and No. 19 overall prospect from the state of Texas in this cycle.

Lance Jackson Scouting Summary

On3 was live in East Texas for the state playoff showdown between Carthage and Pleasant Grove. Here’s what On3’s Sam Spiegelman wrote about the newest Longhorns verbal commitment after a live evaluation from his junior season:

“On300 2025 ATH Lance Jackson saw action on both sides of the ball for Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove. Playing on the defensive line and also at tight end, Jackson is a broader version of his older brother Landon Jackson (Arkansas EDGE), and the physical play style translated over in a big way. Jackson, who checks in close to 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, crashed and battled in the trenches to slow down the Carthage (Texas) running game. He had some pressures and was actively consuming blockers. Much of his damage came on offense. He was an impactful blocker — in space, in the screen game, and as a moveable piece to jump-start the run game. The On300 ATH was also impressive as a pass-catcher. He has outstanding hands and made difficult receptions through contact, and was able to hang out. His size and athleticism make more mismatches in the passing game, and he proved to be a major force to try and slow down on jump balls or short and intermediate routes.”
