Wide receiver has been an issue for Texas all season. Injuries to Jordan Whittington and Troy Omeire have hurt, while true freshman Xavier Worthy has been the only one to step up.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian has been trying to address the problem through the transfer portal and recruiting. Now, he may be looking for more help this offseason after an issue on Wednesday.

According to Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods, Joshua Moore’s status with the Texas program is now in question. He reportedly had a verbal altercation with the head coach during Wednesday’s practice.

Moore is Texas’ third-leading receiver on the season, having 22 receptions for 233 yards and three touchdowns. His latest performance against Baylor saw him score the Longhorns’ opening touchdown along with the team’s only turnover with a fumble.

He entered the season as the team’s leading returning receiver.

Steve Sarkisian calls out wide receivers

Part of the downfall for Texas against Baylor on Saturday was their wide receiver’s drops. Sarkisian called the group out during his post-game press conference, saying they needed to get back to basics.

“Well, we get back to work and we get back to our fundamentals,” Sarkisian said. “To make sure that fundamentally we are sound with how we are trying to catch the ball.”

Joshua Moore was involved in one of the highlighted drops which would have been his second touchdown of the afternoon. Junior Marcus Washington had a big one as well, letting the ball drop in the fourth quarter inside the Baylor 25 yard line.

“Ultimately, we gotta have faith in the guys that we have,” the Texas coach said. “We have some talented players, and I’m sure those guys would love to have some of those plays back.”

Bringing confidence back to the locker room

Sarkisian is looking to get confidence back in the Texas locker room after the three consecutive losses. The head coach says he is going to lean on his more experienced players who know what winning feels like to bring the team’s psyche back up.

“We’ve got enough veteran players and know what it’s like to win and win big games and being great games and do all that,” said Sarkisian. “So it’s a great challenge like the entire season been a heck of a challenge. And I think our guys have, outside of one game in Arkansas, our guys have risen to the challenge week in and week out. Now it’s the ability to sustain that in the midst of the fire. That’s really where we’re at with our guys.”
