On Sunday night, the official Texas Longhorns athletics Twitter account posted a hype video of all the school’s athletic achievements over the years. Sports ranging from football to volleyball featured, with a few legends to play at the university making appearances.

Former Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell narrated the piece toward the end, saying “it’s not that important of what you’ve done. What’s important is what you’re going to do.” Athletic director Chris Del Conte spoke as well, talking about how future Texas athletes have the chance to be members of the Hall of Fame, thanks to their great achievements.

In the final 10 seconds, the SEC logo appeared, teasing the Longhorns moving to the conference in the near future.

Both Texas and their Red River rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners, will be making the move to the SEC sometime within the next few seasons. As of now, the 2025 season is seen as the date, thanks to television contracts the two schools have with the Big 12. However, there is a buyout they could pay and possibly join before then.

If the switch is not made before the 2022 season, Texas will get a little taste of the SEC at Darrel K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium early in the year. Head coach Steve Sarkisian will face off against his old boss and team in Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. LSU made a trip to Austin during the 2019 season as well, showing what kind of atmosphere comes out of big-name programs visiting.

Of course, more than just football will be playing in the SEC. The Longhorns baseball team, currently ranked No. 1 in the country, will make the toughest conference in the country even tougher. Plenty of Olympic sports has won national championships over the past few seasons as well, most notable swimming and diving.
