The Texas Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian have significantly benefited from using the transfer portal this offseason. And during a recent press conference, Sarkisian evaluated one of his top transfer acquisitions, Tarique Milton. In addition, the Longhorns headman gave his take on the Iowa State culture his latest weapon spent time in.

“Well, I think, big picture, this is the world we’re in now. I’ve talked a lot about the ability to adapt, and these are the times of college football,” said Sarkisian. “The transfer portal’s real, and so you have to be adaptable to it. I think, for the most part, it’s been favorable to us.

“Tarique has been a great addition. Anytime you get a veteran player who’s competed at a high level in big games, coming from a good program like Iowa State, I think he’s been a great addition. I think one side of it, for me, is when you talk to him; I think he thought coming to Texas, it was going to be a lot of glitz and glamour. And he found out we’ve got a really good culture here, and I take that as a compliment, coming from a guy whose program was kind of built on their culture. So, the portal can help you there too. I think he recognizes how hard we work and what kind of culture we have; he has integrated himself nicely into our team.”

Milton, a senior from Bradenton, FL, spent his first four years with the Cyclones. His contribution to the team was most noticeable during his freshman and sophomore seasons, with his sophomore year being the best. In 2019 Milton recorded 35 catches for 722 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 20.6 yards per catch.

Sarkisian reveals who has better hair between Matthew McConaughey and Quinn Ewers

Sarkisian has been answering a ton of difficult questions about his Texas Longhorns as they head into the 2022 season. During a recent guest appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, the Longhorns head man was tasked with answering arguably his most challenging question yet. After answering a few questions about his team, Eisen threw Sarkisian a curveball asking him who had the better hair out of newly named starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and Longhorns alum-superfan turned professor Matthew McConaughey. Below is what the Texas headman had to say.

“McConaughey, you know, I don’t know what product he’s got in there, but definitely, the hair looks nice,” said Sarkisian. “Quinn, he kind of just lets it go and lets it flow. And that’s kind of, I think, what we like about him. That’s how he plays the game; he just kind of lets it rip.”

Ewers has the arm talent to let it rip all over the field, and he has the hair to match. But like his hair being on display everywhere he goes, Sarkisian and the Longhorns coaching staff wants his passing ability to be displayed the same way. Ewers has a ways to go before he makes it to McConaughey and his hair’s status on campus. But suppose he can somehow lead the Longhorns to a College Football Playoff national championship. In that case, he could catapult over McConaughey and join the lure of legendary Longhorns quarterbacks such as Vince Young and Colt McCoy.
